NFIP 1-Year Reauthorization
On September 30, 2020, President Trump signed legislation passed by Congress to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) for another year, ending September 30, 2021.
The reauthorization is an opportunity for Congress to restructure the program by reducing the complexity and strengthen the financial framework in order to continue to allow property owners to obtain flood insurance coverage through the NFIP and the private market.
Congress must now reauthorize the NFIP by no later than 11:59pm on September 30, 2021.
